With the hike in commodities every day in our economy, future goals are constantly put on hold for instant gratification. The struggle for survival is now the bane of the day. People would rather go for instant gratification than delay gratification for fear of what the future holds for them.
But in order to survive the difficult economy for now and for the morrow, it is expedient we practice delayed gratification in order to have financial freedom, stability and the realization of our dreams in the future. While it is a good thing to be in the present and enjoy the present, it is also very important we start planning our tomorrow today and no matter how difficult the economy may seem today, you can still plan your tomorrow by delaying gratification.
A major setback to delayed gratification is impulse spending especially in this day and age where with a click of the finger, anything ordered for can be delivered to your door step within 24 hours. The internet has made everything available at our finger tips making it difficult to resist impulse buying or instant gratification.
But in order to have financial stability, security and future, we must learn to practice delayed gratification making intentional decisions such as savings, investment, career, education building and for the pursuit of other future goals or dreams.
