The Rivers State Government has reiterated its commitment to keep pushing on for the Universal Health Coverage of the Rivers People.
Dr. Banigo stated this during a Feedback Meeting of The Challenge Initiative (TCI) at the Government House, in Port Harcourt on Thursday 13th January 2022.
According to the Deputy Governor, the State Chief Executive Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, ensures that health services are delivered in such a way that everything is included and covered, such as family planning, maternal services, neonatal and child health services, as well as adolescent health services.
“That is why he eliminated user fees for People Living with HIV Aids to promote Prevention of Mother To Child Transmission of the virus and has signed the Contributory Health Insurance Scheme to remove all barriers preventing people from accessing health and to reduce out of pocket expenses on the Rivers People”. The Deputy Governor stressed.
She said Governor Wike cares very much for the health of our People, because he believes you have to be healthy before you can do anything reasonable that is why he is always releasing funds for health, noting that development was all about health and all the social services.
The Deputy Governor expressed gratitude to The Challenge Initiative for their support to the health system, stressing that the State Coordinator Mrs Uduak Ananaba and her team has demonstrated great passion and commitment to their duties.
Also speaking the Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board, Dr. Agriye Harry and the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Health. Dr. (Mrs) Ndidi Utchay assured the Deputy Governor that they would continue to sustain and improve service delivery in the health system of the State.
Earlier the Coordinator of The Challenge Initiative Mrs Uduak Ananaba said TCI commenced operation in the State in July 2018 and the organization is modelled in 12 LGAs and 52 health facilities out of the numerous facilities in the State.
