There is never an empty space in our homes, closets, drawers, wardrobes or of any sort.
Whenever we see an empty space in any of these, I'm sure we would want to fill it up. Its natural with almost everyone.
If
you fail to fill up the spaces yourself, nature will fill them with
moist, dust, dirts and rodents as well as other creeping insects.
Same thing applies to our daily lives. When you fail to plan your day, the day will plan your life for you.
If the day plans your life for you, you would always feel there was never enough time for you to do what you had to do.
Or that the day ran so fast and you achieved little or nothing for that day and you would be wondering what you actually did that day.
We all have 24 hours in a day given to us equally. None is given more or less.
It all boils down to what we do with the time given to us and it all starts from the MIND which is my focus today.
The mind it is said its the greatest asset we have and we can use it to our advantage or disadvantage.
The mind can lead you to wealth, peace, prosperity, good health, great opportunities, financial independence, financial intelligence and financial freedom.
Or
it can lead you to just the opposite of the aforementioned which are
poverty, war, ill health, loss of opportunities and financial lack
There is always a battle going on in our minds. It is an invincible and intense war that is constantly seeking our attention.
Battles between good and evil, battles between love and hate, battles of war or of peace.
There are times when you want to think a certain way, it goes another way, when you want to ponder, it wants to wander and when you want to pray and meditate, it wants to stay afloat because so many things seek the attention of the mind.
I experience this sometimes too and always bring myself back. Even while reading this morning as my usual habit, my mind wandered away several times.
Realizing I wasn't in tune with what I was reading, I had to go back to where I was following.
What you read, hear and watch also have a way affecting what goes in and sits in your mind.
The
simple truth is, You don't have to accept everything the mind says to
you because you have the power to bring the mind under subjection. You
have control over your mind.
The mind is always rebellious and wants its own ways at all times but you can always bring the mind under subjection and not being subjected to the mind.
That's why 2 Corinthians 10:5 admonishes we take every thought captive to obey Christ.
Whatever
gets your mind gets you and that is what will determine the outcome of
your life at the end of the day or chart the course of your life forever
because the route to your success or failure in life is your mind.
The mind is never idle, it is never blank and never wanders around without nothing in it.
It is either busy with your goals in life or it is busy with other things that are unproductive and non-beneficial to you.
It
is either busy on how to lead a peaceful life or it is busy plotting
evil. Whichever one or whatever the mind is busy with has a direct
effect on our lives either positively or negatively.
An English Proverb says "An idle mind is the devil's workshop." When you fail to fill your mind with productive things, the devil will fill it up with his own agenda for you.
And what's the devil's agenda for your mind? John 10:10 tells us what the devil's agenda is which is nothing more but to steal, to kill and to destroy.
Nothing good comes from the devil. So when he finds an idle mind, he fills it up with hate, war, envy, doubts, fears, anxiety, depression and other useless stuffs so your day and your life is unproductive.
And once this is the case with you, you are prone to get into trouble because the devil has taken control of your mind.
What you let into your mind is what sits there. Yes, the mind might wander about with unpleasant things but you can control what sits there because you have the power to do so.
If
you let the mind be filled with hatred, it would be filled with hatred
and your whole body will also be filled with hatred and the reverse is
the case when it is filled with love
When
you fill your mind with productive things, your day would be productive
and at the end of the day you will feel fulfilled because you never let
a second, a minute or an hour go to waste with unproductive things.
It is scientifically proven that the mind runs with about 60,000 thoughts a day but what you do with those thoughts is what matters most.
The mind is always rebellious. It always wants to do its bidding but we can always make it submit to us.
What are your priorities in life? What is your dream? What's your purpose in life? What do you want to achieve? What legacy do you want to leave behind not just for your kids but for generations to come? Fill your mind with such things.
If
you do not want your generation to suffer after you are gone, then fill
it with things that would benefit them after you are long gone so that
posterity does not judge you.
Sow seeds of greatness and not of mediocrity, seeds of love and not of hate, seeds of peace and not of war.
WAYS TO MAKE THE MIND SUBMIT TO YOU
1. TAKE HOLD OF YOUR BELIEF SYSTEM
What thoughts do you believe in? Thoughts of good or of evil? thoughts of love or of hatred? Thoughts of peace or of war?
Whose report do you believe in? The report of God or that of the devil?
What you believe in will largely determine what sits in your mind and will ultimately determine your actions in life.
The battle that goes on in the mind is more spiritual than it is physical. 2 Corinthians 10:12 says
"The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strong holds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ."
As
a child growing up, you may tend to believe everything said to you or
shown to you but as an adult, you begin to sieve the things you believe
so evil thoughts don't become strong holds in your mind.
2. HAVE SELECTIVE THOUGHTS : In order to win the battle that goes on in the mind, we must endeavor to be selective in our thinking.
Think about what you think and and take inventory of your thoughts to know if they are negative or positive thoughts.
You
don't have to accept every thought but weigh every thought and know
which is good for you and which is not. That's why you have to fill your
mind with God's word on daily basis.
Hear what Philippians 4:6 says "Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
3. NEVER STOP LEARNING : Never give up learning. The more you learn the more you are opened up to what is right and what is wrong and the more your mind stays stable on positive things.
Our leaning never stopped at our graduation. Aside our formal education is our self education and development.
Society will not teach you everything. Somethings you have to learn on your own and also learn from others as well either directly or indirectly.
Never seize to draw from the well of knowledgeable people and great men. Learn their mistakes and experiences.
You can learn by reading books, articles either online or on print, listening to great men on television or on audios.
Read motivational books/contents, career guide, personal development books or audios.
These are some of the best ways to feed your mind positively and to maintain a healthy mindset
For instance, to attain financial intelligence and freedom, you must acquire financial knowledge.
Hosea 4:6 says "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." Lack of knowledge can make you accept anything and everything dished out to you.
But when you are knowledgeable enough, you become selective of what goes into the mind and stays there.
When you keep learning, your character is developed, skill is acquired and wisdom is gained.
Some great books and audios are readily online for you to download on your phones, tablets, laptops or desktops.
You don't have to be on social media all the time with these devices but you can also use them to build your mind positively.
Things we read and see on social media all the time can also affect our minds negatively so its good to stay off social media sometimes for your mental health.
What's your purpose on earth? What do you want to achieve as a person here on earth and what legacy do you want to leave behind? Think on these things and let them be your guide daily.
God who created you gave you a mind for a reason so you can create the life you desire and be able to fulfill your dreams here on earth.
Same way you take care of your body ensure you take care of your mind even much more.
Quote for the day - You are the root of your success and your mind is the route to your success."
