In the last post of Building Your Inner Beauty, we looked at what truly makes you beautiful from the inside. You can read that here

In this post, we would be looking at how to consistently build your inner beauty.  Inner beauty is something we cultivate and develop over time.

So below are some few ways with which you can build your inner beauty. There are so many ways to build our inner beauty but I'm going to put down as much as possible.

HOW TO BUILD YOUR INNER BEAUTY

1. BE GODLY : Godliness has a very high value. It benefits a great deal than what we can imagine or think.

It is believed that to be wise is to be godly. Being godly is reflecting the nature of God in our everyday life and in our relationships with others.

It is godliness that preserves you and keeps you through challenging times bringing you out of the storm stronger, brighter and better. 

Cultivating godliness brings out the true beauty of anyone. The kind of beauty that transcends time and is opposed to the world's kind of beauty. 

It brings out the true beauty that money can not buy, poverty can't steal and what no picture can express. It is an inner beauty that is so pure and full of the expression of God's saving grace.  

There is no greater compliment you can receive than to be said that you are a godly person irrespective of how committed you may be in your church or any other endeavor.

"For while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come." (1 Timothy 4:8 ESV).

PRAY AND MEDITATE : This can not be overemphasized. Having sometime alone or some quiet time for just even five minutes every morning in prayer and meditation can set the tone of the day on a good note for you, leave you refreshed and spiritually alive. 

Prayer and mediation also helps you stay godly as it helps to give you some principles to apply in your daily life as well as give you something to reflect on daily.

Praying and meditating everyday improves your relationship with God and brings you closer to Him every day. This helps you stay godly and beautiful from the inside.

"Keep this book of the law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." (Joshua 1:8)

FEED, BUILD AND GROW YOUR FAITH : The Bible says "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17).

The more you feed on God's word, the more your faith is grown and the more your inner beauty glows.

Faith helps you stay strong and persevere in difficult times. It helps you see the brighter side and a perfect picture even in the midst of the storm.

To grow your faith, you can also read other books that build your faith, spend time with well meaning friends who encourage you to be the best you can be and listen to good and inspiring songs that help to lift your spirit and soul.

BE COMFORTABLE IN YOUR OWN SKIN : Dr. Maxwell Maltz, a plastic surgeon once said that he noticed he could make people beautiful on the outside but most often these people never feel good about themselves because they always felt a black hole from the inside.

How comfortable are you in your own skin? How comfortable are you with the talents, gifts and abilities God has bestowed  you with? How comfortable are you with your weaknesses and limitations?

People get uncomfortable in their own skin including their gifts and talents when they begin to compare themselves with others.

Comparing yourself with others will limit you a great deal and prevent you from being who God has called you to be as well as prevent you from impacting your world.

Not being comfortable in your skin is more like saying God made a mistake with the way He created you.

"You created every part of me; you put me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because you are to be feared; all you do is strange and wonderful. I know it with all my heart."(Psalm 139:13-14).

We were all created uniquely with diverse gifts to function in different ways. How God created you is same way He wants you to operate and not to be like someone else.

Your beauty is not in your outer self but in your inner self. Try as much as you may to look beautiful externally but if you are not at peace with who you are from the inside you will never feel beautiful even on the outside.

The validation of people won't and can never replace they way you see yourself. Until you realize you are beautiful from within, your external beauty is null and void.

Your inner beauty includes accepting your flaws and weaknesses yet knowing you are perfect in your imperfections.

BE KIND AND GENEROUS : Being kind and generous to people around you and beyond speaks volume of your inner beauty. It indicates what a beautiful heart you have.

Being generous is not just about giving money but also includes your time, lending a listening ear, words of encouragement and so on.

Stay warm hearted, open hearted, understanding, charitable, friendly, tolerant, accommodating, respectful, empathetic, giving etc.

Learn to always give back in any capacity that you can. Your support in any form can go a long way to put a smile in the faces of others and show how beautiful you are on the inside

"And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased." (Hebrews 13:16).

BE GRATEFUL : Be grateful to God and to man always for every little kind act meted to you. A grateful heart is always a happy heart that radiates beauty and joy from the inside.

Even when it feels like nothing is happening to you or no one does anything for you, if you take the time to look around, you would realize there is always something to be grateful for to God and even man.

Everyday you wake up to see and witness is enough reason to be grateful for and give thanks. Gratitude helps reduce stress and anxiety. 

It also helps boost your overall health mentally, emotionally, psychologically and even physically.

Learn to say thank you always. A person appreciated will always want to do more even God does more for us when we truly appreciate Him for all He has done for us.

"Do not be anxious about anything , but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7).

BE HUMBLE : Irrespective of your status, age, position or wealth, learn to stay humble at all times. We need to get to that point where we see that we have not really earned anything but a gift from God.

Only through His grace that we are what we are today or have what we have. From our beautiful looks on the outside to our position and material wealth, nothing was actually earned but through God's special grace and whatever you have or possess is for a purpose and to God's glory alone. 

Humility is seeing others like you are and not feeling superior over others but holding them in high esteem.

Everyone you see today is as talented, beautiful and purposeful as you are but in different dimensions just as God as purposed it to be

But humility is not stupidity. Holding others in high esteem is not putting yourself down but putting others first. 

"Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you." (James 4:10).

HAVE A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR : Don't get so serious about life that you forget to laugh and crack jokes neither let the challenges of this life make you loose yourself. 

Laughter is a great gift from God. Its always great and feels great to have a cheerful heart, laughing with friends and family members at all times.

A good sense of humor makes you really beautiful from the inside, it makes you more attractive, shows your character strength, boosts your health and indicates how truly happy you are.

When you have a good sense of humor, you attract people to you and affect your relationship with others positively.

"A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength ." (Proverbs 17:22).

LIVE A PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE : Be passionate about your dreams and live out your dreams. The dream might seem bigger than you or look impossible, but every little step you take everyday concerning that dream will always bring happiness to you and make your life more meaningful.

A purposeless life is a boring life but a life that is purpose driven is an adventurous life full of excitement and discoveries.

We create impacts and affect the lives of people positively when we live out our dreams. You are alive and well so find yours and live it. 

This will not just bring happiness to you but also to those around you and in-turn make you beautiful in and out.

"You Lord, give perfect peace to those who keep their purpose firm and put their trust in you." (Isaiah 26:3).

BE CONFIDENT : Be confident in knowing that you are beautiful, special and uniquely made by God.

Never believe the voice in the head that says you are ugly, weak, incapable, unable, unfit, a failure and every other negative thoughts.

But believe the voice from the heart that says how truly beautiful you are in and out, successful, capable, able, fit and strong.

Be confident to live the dream that God has given you irrespective of mistakes made, failures experienced, criticisms, mockeries or what people might say and think.

Be confident that you too are full of talents, dreams, potentials and ideas that can positively affect and enrich lives. If others can live their dreams, so can you.

Beauty comes in different shades, colors and sizes so you are beautiful in and out. Let no one tell you otherwise.

"Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." (Philippians 1:6)

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will upload you with my righteous right hand." (Isaiah 41:10).

BE MODEST : Being modest is not just about the kind of cloths we wear but truly comes from the heart.

So many people equate modesty to how people dress especially for ladies like wearing an all covering cloths from the head to the toes.

Yet I have seen ladies that dress "Modestly" with dirty hearts. Modesty really has nothing to do with our dressing but largely dependent on our hearts. 

Look good and dress well but not for a selfish reason. Put on modesty from the heart which is our inner self to the outside.

"But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at . People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." (1 Samuel 16:7).

STAY OPTIMISTIC : Irrespective of what the situation might be or what life throws at you, stay optimistic and positive.

A beautiful heart is never pessimistic. It is and remains a light to others even when it is hurting. An optimistic heart always sees the best in everyone and in every situation. It is always beautiful in the eyes of everyone.

"Finally, brothers and sister, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable.....if anything is excellent or praiseworthy...think about such things." (Philippians 4:8)

PRACTICE SELF CARE : Self care covers every of our well being than we can imagine. So many people think of self care as just eating good food, going to spa and all that. Its not just being self indulgent but having your mind, spirit, soul and body refreshed.

"Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul." (3 John 1:2).
