The State Chief Executive Nyesom Ezenwo has assured Christians in the State that he would continue to encourage them to consistently win more souls for Christ.
Governor Wike stated this during the plenary session of the 11th Annual Synod of Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of D/Line on Saturday 10th April, 2021.
Represented by his Deputy Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Harry Banigo, Governor Wike who said evangelism is very important described it as the heartbeat of the Church.
“I congratulate you for the various churches you are planting along the length and breadth of Rivers State, and we know that there are still more areas that needs the presence of the church of God and he will use your hands to deliver that redemption to his people”. He further stressed.
According to the Governor the theme of the Synod, “Watch and Pray” is important because of the perilous times in which we are living today, noting that there is a need to study it, adhere to it and to propagate it.
“Know that God is waiting for us, we are his agents on this earth to bring down his Kingdom from heaven to earth, we are the people and we are the ones that must go forth and shine the light, so that darkness will not be able to comprehend the light., we need to be the light at a time like this and to be the salt of the earth”. He quipped.
In his address the Bishop. Diocese of D/Line Methodist Church, Nigeria, Rt. Rev Friday Jephthah who said the major work of the Church is to evangelize in any locality it finds its self, disclosed that the D/Line Diocese had embarked on mission work at various Local Government Areas.
According to the Bishop the Diocese needs a befitting Bishop’s House, stressing that they need people touched by God to donate materials in kind and cash to commence this divine project immediately after the Synod, adding that the best investment is to put your resources in the service of God.
