We all go through one form of challenge or the other every day of our lives in our careers, jobs, dreams, finances, family lives, relationships and other wise that tend to weigh us down making us worry for tomorrow.
These challenges or troubles would make it seem like you can't or won't be able to go on with life any longer.
Sometimes, it's our relationships taking a toll on us and we wouldn't want to let go for fear of being a lone.
There are times, it is our finances that seem not to be enough. Instead of adding up, it decreases with so many challenges or responsibilities affecting our savings or the little at hand.
Some other times, its the dreams we have and want to live that seem like an impossible thing to achieve because it seems bigger than us.
Other times it is our jobs or careers posing a threat to us. Too many challenges in the job that make you want to quit even when you are not fully prepared for such a decision. Worrying about how you want to cope with the same job over and over again every day.
And then, there are times we worry so much about what others would think of us when we do what we dream of doing or what we ought to do.
All the above stated, lead to one form of worry or the order. We get so caught up in worrying and thinking about all the what ifs and what not.
What if we fail, what if it doesn't work out as planned, what if we fail in trying to pursue our dreams, what if this relationship does not work out and so on.
Worrying is not something that happens to the weak only, it happens to every human being at one point in life or the other. The difference is how each person responds to it.
God said in Mathew 6:34 "Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
When the Bible says not to worry about tomorrow, it did not say not to think of your tomorrow or plan ahead of tomorrow but rather it says, do not get worried or anxious about it.
Worry always breeds fear of failure, fear of death, fear of success and it negatively affects us in all ramification. It affects our whole entire body system and all we do physically.
All you need is strength to carry on for today and not the worries of tomorrow. Each day has enough troubles or challenges of its own already to be too anxious of tomorrow.
Worrying about so much of what is gonna happen tomorrow, rubs you of your peace and strength for today. Worrying about tomorrow prevents you from enjoying today and makes you miss the blessings of today.
Its OK to plan for tomorrow but live for today. When you worry so much about tomorrow, the future becomes overwhelming and seems impossible. All you need is power for today.
Instead of worrying about tomorrow all by yourself, hand your worries over to God. "Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you." (1 Peter 5:7).
The surest way of not letting worries get the best of you is knowing what God says about you and memorize them.
His words are like insurance policies that get you covered. When you know, you are covered, worry becomes the least thing on your mind.
Every day of lives is filled with unexpected challenges. In order for theses challenges not to get to us, all we can do is pray and be rest assured that God is at work for us and in us.
Worrying and being filled with anxiety demonstrates a lack of trust in God who has graciously promised to take care of us and our tomorrow.
Worrying so much keeps you immobilized by fear and then renders you ineffective of what you can do today.Tomorrow never ends, it only ends when you die and leave this world, so how many tomorrows do you want to worry about?
In fact, worrying so much about tomorrow takes you early to the grave without you living your dreams and accomplishing your goals.
WAYS TO GET OVER WORRIES
1. PRAY : Instead of worrying about what tomorrow brings, pray about it and over it. The Bible says "Do not be anxious about anything but in every situation by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God." (Philippians 4:6)
Tell God about your plans for tomorrow and ask Him to take care of it. Instead of worrying about it, ask God to show you how to go about it.
When faced with challenges, instead of asking God why, ask Him how to overcome the difficulties or challenges and show you a way out of it.
When you pray, be rest assured that God will answer. Jesus Himself is at the right hand of God interceding on our behalf (Romans 8:34).
2. FOCUS ON GOD'S PROMISES : When worry tends to get the best of us, focus on God's promises alone.
There are numerous promises God made to us in His word (The Bible) to keep us from worrying.
Such promises include;
- "Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares." (1 Peter 5:7).
- "Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken ". (Psalm 55:22).
- "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7).
- Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." (Psalm 23:4).
- "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways submit to him, and He will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6)
- "Which of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life." ( Luke 12:25).
- "But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." (Jeremiah 17:7-8).
- "What then shall we say about these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Indeed, He who did not spare His own son, but gave Him up for us all---how will He not also, along with him, freely give us all things? (Romans 8:31-32)
These and many more are the promises of God to curb our worries. Only those who know their God will not let worries prevent them from doing exploits.
No wonder Jesus said in Mathew 6:32 said "People who don't know God and the way He works fuss over these things."
Quote for the day - "If God could close the lion's mouth for Daniel, part the red sea for Moses, make the sun stand still for Joshua, open the prison for Peter, put a baby in Sarah's arm and raised Lazarus from the dead, then He can certainly take care of you. Have faith in Him." - Anonymous
