Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Harry Banigo has called on the People of Wakama Community in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area and Kporghor Community in Tai Local Government Area to cooperate with the Rivers State Boundary Commission in its quest to bring an end to their boundary dispute.
Dr. Banigo made this call at a meeting between the Rivers State Boundary Commission and Stakeholders from Wakama and Kporghor communities at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Thursday, 13th February 2020.
According to the Deputy Governor this dispute has unfortunately cost the communities the loss of several human lives and the loss of very valuable properties running into millions of naira, noting that communal crisis does not do any body any good whatsoever.
She said communal crisis only brings hardship, economic sabotage, blockade and total lack of development to the area, stressing that the Boundary Commission under her watch cannot fold its arms and watch communal crisis that would impede the developmental agenda of Governor Wike.
Dr. Banigo who said Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike is bent on ensuring that all communities in Rivers State enjoy adequate development in all nooks and crannies of the State, however warned that warring communities stand the risk of being left out of the development plan.
She said everything would be done to ensure lasting peace returns to the two communities so that the mandate given to the Governor by the Almighty God and his passion to develop the State would be fulfilled.
