WAYS TO ENJOY CHRISTMAS AND HAVING A ITCH FREE JANUARY

The celebration of Christmas and new year is fast approaching. It's no secret how things can get overwhelming during this period and for most people especially youths, it's a great time of the year to have fun with friends, loved ones and family members. This period could be hectic and stressful but can still be beautiful and fun filled as well. If care is not taken consciously and cautiously during this period, then comes financial toll on most people in January, a month seen as a month of hardship. The season comes with lots of stress and over spending on gifts, kids, loved ones and family members.

On the other side of the celebrations, are certain youths who would want to go overboard just to impress and show off during the festivities. There is usually this pressure on youths to look their best that creates the tendency to want to spend so much, all that they've got or never had to look their best. If you truly want to be happy in life, you've got to quit impressing people. Live within your means, be happy with what you've got and be contented with it so you you are not tempted to get involved with social vices such as robbery, prostitution, gambling or getting drunk all in the name of celebrating Christmas. Christmas can be spent simple or with the simplest of pleasures yet filled with lots of fun.

Note, whatever we do during the festivities will determine how our January turns out to be financially, emotionally, mentally, spiritually and health wise. Christmas is meant to be fun filled, enjoyed, drawing closer to God and not to have a toll on us during and after the celebrations. In all the hustles and bustles we do to make the celebrations great, let's not forget the little things that count and matter most. Decide to make this Christmas the best ever with a well thought out plan. Take charge this year and make it the best ever without strains and stress.

BELOW ARE SOME SIMPLE TIPS TO HAVE A GREAT CHRISTMAS

1. GRATITUDE : Start the celebration with a heart of gratitude to God for all He's done to and for you since the last Christmas. The fact that you are alive to witness another Christmas is enough reason to be grateful for. Appreciate God for the goals achieved and celebrate your little wins. You may not have gotten all you wanted in the year but when you sit back and reflect on all you've been through and conquered in the year then you would see lots of reasons to be grateful to God for.

2. SET A BUDGET : If you are a salary earner, then you know what your salary would be like and I am sure you have an idea of what the Christmas bonuses would like, so it would be of great necessity and wisdom to plan your expenses according to what you earn. And if you are a business person, you also know what your profit looks like and would also be great you plan your expenses this period around what comes in as profit. It is mostly lack of plans or a budget plan that makes January seem like a month of hardship. You can also set some money aside for miscellaneous use making it easier for you in unforeseen expenses that has to be made. Don't get so carried away with what people do on social media, the glamour of social media and the adverts taking place that you get tempted to go overboard with your planned expenses. Christmas is only as commercialized as we let it be. It is the things you do, the time you give and the way you are with people that matter most and not how much you spend on people.

3. HAVE SAVINGS : Have some savings irrespective of how much you are going to spend. It is much wiser to spend less than what you earn than to spend much more than what you earn or exactly what you earn. There will still be some financial expenses in January so why spend all you now and then look miserable in January. Your savings gives you something to fall back on after all the expenses during the festive period.

3. AVOID LAST MINUTE RUSH : Do not wait until the last minute before you get certain things for the holiday. This will put you under undue stress or pressure and you might end up buying things more expensive than you would have if bought earlier. If you also find yourself lacking something at the last minute especially something that was unplanned for, don't go rushing out to get it and then remain penniless at the end of the day but rather make do with what is available at the time. The best you can do is to start early shopping for your Christmas. Last minute rush can also be avoided in cooking in order to prevent too much stress by doing things that can be done a day before Christmas day.

4. CELEBRATE WITHOUT EXPECTATIONS : Don't plan your celebrations with the expectation of a perfect Christmas celebration. Have a free mind towards the celebrations and enjoy it as it comes while entertaining without perfections. If it doesn't go as planned, enjoy it anyway. Things don't always go as planned so if a change occurs outside the initial plan, flow with it and accept it instead of stressing over it and going overboard. Like it is commonly said "Change is constant" and that's the reality of life, so embrace any change that comes.

5. KEEP IT SIMPLE : You mustn't do something so big before you know you are having a great time. The simplest things you do can turn out to be the best ever. Don't go over scheduling yourself with so many activities for the Christmas that you forget those simple things that matter most. Over scheduling yourself with too many activities gets you stressed out making you miss out on the beauty and peace of the season. Over scheduling yourself can also make you fall sick due to so many stress. Keeping your celebrations simple also takes away the expectation of perfection from it.

6. GIVE AND SHARE : As little or as simple as it might be, give gifts or share food and drinks with people around you. It mustn't be expensive but when it comes from the heart, it comes along with it fulfilment and satisfaction no matter how little it is. The blessings come with giving and not in receiving. Reach out to the have nots around you if can't go to the homeless or aged homes. You can also reach out to those who are alone or feel lonely spending the Christmas all by themselves having  such people over or go visiting them.

7. ENJOY CELEBRATING ALONE : If you are spending Christmas alone, don't feel lonely about it. You can have a fun filled and enjoyable Christmas all by yourself. See your being alone this period as an opportunity for freedom and some space. For someone like me who works round the correct and probably spending the Christmas alone, it serves as an opportunity to get some rest away from work, have some time for myself and also reflect on things especially on the coming year. You can also connect with people like who are probably also spending Christmas alone so you all can be together on that day.

8. STAY HEALTHY : In all you do, ensure you stay healthy during and after Christmas. You can't leave the stress of work for some few days and get more stressed out during and after the festivities. Eat healthy and take healthy precautions in all your activities. Find time to rest your head and get enough rest mentally and physically. Ensure to create time to spend some time alone and give your body the needed rest it needs from the stress of work and the festivities. You need enough rest mentally and physically so you can get back to work soundly, mentally strong and physically fit for the next task ahead. Of what use will the holiday be if you get back to work or business tired, fatigued or sick? Also make out time for some peace and quiet away from everybody. When you learn to keep some peace and quiet, you remain sane or get back your sanity from all the stress at work, during and after the festivities. Your peace and quiet time could be in the early hours of the morning when everyone is still asleep or in the evening when others have retired back to bed. Your peace and quiet could also be watching some good movies or reading a book. All these relaxes the brain, nerves and develops your mental being. Keep your spirit up and the stress down so your immune system is not zapped.

9. KNOW THE IMPORTANCE OF CHRISTMAS : For some, the celebration of Christmas is a joyous one having all the means to make the celebration great available while for some, it's not going to be a happy one not having enough to experience a great Christmas. They might not even have money to get some food, how much more getting gifts for people or share the season with others but knowing the significance of Christmas is what makes the difference between the haves and the have nots. The have nots might not have all it takes to have a great Christmas but knowing the importance of Christmas can bring joy into their hearts and a fulfilling Christmas while the haves might have a a Christmas full of merriment and still not have joy in their hearts. Christmas signifies the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ and the expression of God's love for mankind. So we ought to show our gratitude to God and love for mankind. Jesus Christ is the personification of divinity who came to give mankind a new spiritual turn. Jesus was born to someday die for the sins of humanity bringing divinity and  salvation to man.  He came to restore the glory of man and mankind back to God. With Adam, man's glory was lost but with  the coming of Jesus Christ, the glory of man was restored.  Irrespective of what might be happening around us this season and whether we have or not, we can still have a joyous Christmas knowing the importance of Christmas. Christ's birth brought with it renewed hope and faith in God knowing that we are His children and that things can only get better by the day. So, when we look at Christmas in this light understanding its significance, then we would truly have a joyous and a merry Christmas knowing He would provide all our needs in the coming new year and beyond.

How you spend the Christmas and how the whole holiday season goes for you its entirely your decision to make but however and whatever way or method you use, ensure to take wise decisions and be safe domestically, socially and be free from automated accidents. Be security conscious in in your outings and in all you do. The season is meant for fun, joy, merriment, love and not for sorrow. It is also meant for us to draw closer to God.

Have a joyful and fun filled celebrations. Merry Christmas and a happy new year in advance.
