Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Harry Banigo has commissioned the Obuama Water Project which was conceived and executed by her.
Speaking during the Commissioning Ceremony, at the Obuama Town Square on Saturday, 5th October, 2019.
Dr. Banigo said she decided to proffer a permanent solution to the water scarcity faced by the Obuama People when issues of water scarcity came up at meetings she held with the People, noting that the project is very important to her.
The Deputy Governor who assured the people that the Governor Wike led Administration would continue to impact on their lives disclosed that in 2018 the Primary School in Obuama was completed by the State Universal Basic Education Board as well as the junior Secondary school, noting that the contractors who handled the jobs are all members of the community.
According to the Deputy Governor, the State Chief Executive Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has already approved the total reconstruction of the main secondary school in Obuama which has already been budgeted for.
“We want to do a total turn around, you will have ICT, Library, Hostels everything will be put in place not just a shoddy job”. Dr. Banigo Further stressed.
She said Obuama has benefited from the State Employment and Expenditure For Results (SEEFOR) Project in the area of road construction “We have benefited on road projects for instance, the road leading to the agric farm which I was trying to do with one of the indigenes here is to resuscitate the farm and I believe that farm must be resuscitated”.

In his welcome address the Secretary Obuama Council of Chiefs, Alabo Erekeosin Idoniboyeobu who said water is a source of life to all living things, stressed that about 70% of the human body is made up of water.
He commended the Deputy Governor for bringing the water project to the community and prayed the Almighty God to continue to bless and strengthen Dr. Banigo to do more for the people.
