WAIT EXPECTANTLY AND NOT ANXIOUSLY

"In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly". Psalm 5:3

The 1st half of the year is gone and the year is fast coming to an end. So many of us have set goals or placed targets on ourselves to achieve by or before the end of the year. Some of us have achieved some set goals while for some, the waiting is still on as not a single goal or major goal is achieved. The waiting can be  boring, tiring and frustrating but the truth is, in life, we are all waiting for one thing or the other. Even if you have achieved most set goals mapped out for the year, you will still find out that you are waiting for something else to be achieved. Even when what you have waited for for so long has come to pass, life still gives you something else to wait on.  We are all waiting for something. It's either we are waiting for a dream to be made manifest, job/career, marriage, the coming of a child, a contract, a project to be completed, a change of job, a promotion, an increase in salary or that you are waiting to get healed from a disease or illness but the question is, In your waiting, do you wait anxiously or expectantly?

There is nothing wrong in waiting but what we do while we wait is what matters. You are either waiting wrongly or you are waiting rightly. You either wait anxiously or you wait expectantly and you are are either waiting passively or actively. Whichever way you choose to wait will impact your life positively or negatively. Waiting is part of life's journey. It is part of what makes you and I. It helps to shape our lives. It gives room for gratitude to God and to mankind. Waiting makes you appreciate life better. When you get anxious, depressed or sad while waiting, then you are waiting wrongly but when you wait in expectation, hope and faith in God then you are waiting the right way. Anxiety wears you out, zaps your strength and frustrates you but waiting expectantly gives you hope, builds your faith and makes you see a brighter tomorrow.

It's natural to get anxious when things don't go the way we want, planned them out to be or out of our control but what do we do when there is nothing we can actually do about it? there is a saying that goes thus " why worry if you can't do a thing about it and why worry if you can do something about it? " The Bible says "be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus". Philippians 4:6-7. Waiting expectantly on God gives you peace of mind but anxiety steals your peace. Trusting and having faith in God makes the wait worthwhile. Faith breads the ground for you to have confident expectations of your desires and dreams while waiting  anxiously rips you off your joy.

God has given us dreams and desires which He will bring to pass at His time. He said in His word that He makes all things beautiful in his own time (Ecclesiastes 3:11). If you have prayed, planned and worked towards that which you are waiting for, trust God to see you through it. Don't just get anxious, desperate or buckle up under the pressure of waiting but believing and expecting to see your dreams, goals and heart desires get fulfilled. Wait patiently, expectantly, actively and in faith. Don't wait in idleness, get busy with your life and pursue other dreams while you constantly appreciate and give thanks to God for all He has done in the past, doing presently and the ones He will do for you in the future.

Quote for the day - " If you know you have to wait anyway, why not make a decision to enjoy your life while you are waiting? Why not be happy while God is in the process of changing things? After all, there is nothing we can really do to make it happen any faster. We might as well relax and enjoy our lives, knowing that at the appointed time God is going to bring his plan to pass." - Joel Osteen
