The Rivers State Government has re-echoed its determination to ensure that the Organized Private Sector Continues to thrive in the State.



The State Chief Executive, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike stated this during the 61st Inauguration Dinner Night of the President, Exco and Council of the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA) in Port Harcourt, on Tuesday 27thNovember, 2018.

Speaking through His Deputy, Dr.(Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo Governor Wike  said the state Government  is delighted to be associated with PHCCIMA the organized private  sector which according to him was part of the strategy to provide an enabling environment for the growth of business.

The Governor who said Rivers State was mentioned recently as having received the highest direct foreign investment in Nigeria attributed it to the political will and commitment of his Administration to ensure the State remains safe and secure for investors to operate.

According to Governor Wike, multiple taxation which was the order of the day before the advent of his Administration had been stopped through harmonization, noting that issuance of Certificate of Occupancy is a lot easier now.





The Governor while congratulating the President of PHCCIMA Chief Nabil Saleh and his team for the inauguration said his Administration would continue to execute quality projects that positively impact on the citizenry and expressed delight that Rivers State is now the destination for national and international events.

The President of thePort Harcourt Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture Chief Nabil Saleh had earlier said PHCCIMA would continue to work and act on behalf of businesses in the state, region and country to foster economic development and interact with Government at all levels.




It would be recalled that the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, mines and Agriculture which is the second largest and active chamber of commerce in Nigeria was established in 1957 as an interest group with the objective of articulating business interest in the Niger Delta Region and its environs.
