DR. BANIGO LEADS HER STAFF ON ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION

Rivers State Deputy Governor Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry Banigo says she
is desirous to see that Rivers People understand that preventive
measures help to maintain good health.

The Deputy Governor stated this when she led staff of the Deputy
Governor’s Office on a General Sanitation Exercise on Friday at the
Government House in Port Harcourt.

Dr. Banigo said the health implications of staying in a filthy
environment are numerous; noting that illnesses like diarrhoea, skin
infections and rodents borne diseases like Lassa fever thrive in
filthy surroundings.

“We have decided in the Deputy Governor’s Office that we are going to
be doing this clean-up regularly without leaving it in the hands of
the cleaners alone. Today everybody is out to clean our surroundings
and offices. We must make sure we keep up this habit” Dr. Banigo
stressed.

The Deputy Governor, who advocated for residents of the State to do
likewise, noted that if all hands are put on deck, the Garden City
status of Port Harcourt and the entire State would be maintained. She
expressed delight at the enthusiasm exhibited by the staff.

Also Speaking, the Director of Administration in the Office of the
Deputy Governor Mr. Ben Robert, who said the response from the staff
is encouraging, stressed the importance of environmental hygiene.

He disclosed that the Deputy Governor is making frantic efforts to
give the complex a face lift, noting that a healthy environment
portrays the health of the organization.
