GOVERNOR WIKE INAUGURATES LAW REVISION COMMITTEE

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has inaugurated the State Law Revision Committee.


Speaking during the inauguration of the committee  at the  Government House Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Governor Wike said that the Committee is to collate and  revise all laws in force in the state.


He said that  the  assignment  should be completed within six months from the  date of the execution  of the instrument.

Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr. (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry Banigo in a handshake with Hon. Justice T. K. Osu, Chairman, Rivers State Law Revision Committee during his Inauguration at Government House Port Harcourt.



The governor  informed that  the last time that the laws of the State  were revised was in 2003 under the chairmanship of Late Justice Fibresima.

Governor Wike said:

"This is a very important committee that is relevant  to the strengthening of the justice system of the state.

"In terms of laws that should be amended, the committee should liaise with the State House of Assembly. "

Responding, Chairman of the Committee, Justice TK Osu assured the governor that the committee  will deliver  on the assignment as scheduled.



In another development, Governor Wike swore  in the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Tai Local Government Area, Mr Sylvester Mgba .



He charged the new Caretaker Committee Chairman to prioritise the payment of salaries and support for security agencies.
